Pages 325-337

Oh my god will this book ever get back to the actual plotline?

These pages feel like the most unnecessary part of the entire book so far, even more pointless than the bloody history lessons Victor Hugo insists on hitting us with because even though those bits are boring at least i learn a little something from them. These 12 pages are so pointless even the musical completely leaves them out of the entire plot.

Basically Jean Valjean has been recaptured and he's currently on a prison ship where an accident occurs and nearly kills a man, Jean Valjean breaks free from his chains and rescues the man but falls into the sea whilst doing it and is presumed dead by everyone.

This book would be neither worse nor better if these pages were taken out altogether, i would have been perfectly happy if Valjean had just escaped fully when he did last time and the story had continued from there, but no we have to keep delaying the plot even more!

Fuck you Victor Hugo!
