Before i begin i feel like i need a recap of the major characters so far...
There's Jean Valjean who spent 19 years in prison and is on the run from Inspector Javert. Mrs Thenardier and Mr Thenardier, the latter of whom fought in the French revolution and saved the life of a Mr Pontmercy. Eponine, the daughter of the Thenardiers who's in love with Marius (the son of Mr Pontmercy), who's in love with Cosette who lived with the Thenardiers for five years before being adopted by Jean Valjean.
This book should be renamed Les Coincidence! Is it just me who thinks there's far too many coincidences in this book? I'm half expecting to find out that Marius and Cosette are siblings......ugggggh, that's a disturbing thought!
Not much is happening in this part of the book so I'll keep it short.
Basically Eponine wants to fuck Marius, Marius is brooding over Cosette, Cosette's brooding over Marius and Valjean is afraid that if Cosette has fallen in love with someone he wont be the only man in her life anymore and i think any parents and especially fathers reading can sympathise with that, i think all fathers fear the day that they wont be the most important man to their daughters.
That's pretty much it except for a quick flashback of when Valjean and Cosette left the convent, nothing really of interest, Valjean buys a house, Cosette grows boobs, Marius falls in love with her, Valjean trys to keep Marius away from Cosette. Didn't i already read about this a few chapters back, why do i have to hear about it again????? Fuck you Victor Hugo! Now you're just repeating yourself!
OK that's it, Next chapter please!!!
