Pages 119-143

OK so in these past 20 pages the character of Fantine has appeared, I was really curious about Fantine's character in the musical because it seemed like she had some interesting past that wasn't being said and this part of the book pretty much answered every question i had about her so it was a good read.

Basically she has a group of friends and they're all paired up with this group of lads one of whom is called Felix (That's such a stupid name by the way, it's a cats name!) Anyway Felix is Fantines boyfriend and they spend their days drinking and dancing and doing all those things you do when you're young and in love before life punches you in the face! As it seems though the lads are growing bored with the women and they keep telling them that soon they will get a surprise and one day after a day out the lads leave and send the girls a letter telling them they've all been dumped. SURPRISE!!!

And it's then that we find out that Fantine had Felix's baby, Cosette. (Actually her real name is Euphrasie but she's been nicknamed Cosette for some reason......I don't know why)

I like Fantine, she's a good character, I cant help but feel sorry for her though for what she must have been feeling after she'd been dumped. It's bad enough to be dumped via letter but to be dumped after having a guys baby is just so awful.
Men are bastards! Seriously that "surprise" the lads gave the girls is one of the meanest things I've ever heard, if someone had ever done that to me when i was young (or even now for that matter) i would FUCKING KILL THEM!!

That's all I'm going to say about these pages because I've been feeling sick today and funnily enough when you feel sick and miserable reading a book entitled Les Miserables doesn't help much! Fuck you Victor Hugo for making me feel more miserable!
